This is definitely an operation that requires considerable skill. If we do it correctly, we are able to save even a few thousand zloty. How should I paint my car?

Varnishing is something that sooner or later will be useful for each vehicle – every driver knows about it. Unfortunately, a professional varnisher is an expense of about five thousand zlotys. Nevertheless, we must admit that this price is fair and adequate to the required skills. One mistake can result in permanent damage to the paint. Therefore, before you paint your car on your own, you need to think about this decision well and estimate your skills and conditions.

Cleaning the work area

This is the absolute starting point for any paint scheme. Even the smallest contaminant that clings to poorly dried paint can ruin the effect of all the effort and work put in. First of all, we need to answer the question – in which place we want to paint? This will allow to effectively identify and eliminate potential contamination. Certainly you can not take for it in a dusty workshop. Each room that is to be used for this purpose should be thoroughly cleaned beforehand. Professional paint shop is a completely sterile space.

You should also ensure sterile conditions when working outdoors. You should definitely avoid areas where the car will be exposed to all kinds of floating dust or soil. It is also worth making sure that the planned date of painting does not fall during the season for insects. They can stick to fresh paint, creating permanent stains. Regardless of the place you need to clean the car thoroughly. Absolutely all dust and dirt must be removed

Securing or removing

This is the next step in the proper painting of the vehicle. It depends mainly on what elements are to be painted. If the paint is to be applied only on the external structure, then it is enough to protect with foil and tape those elements that should not be reached by the paint. However, the situation gets complicated when the interior of the trunk or the engine compartment has to be painted. Then it is necessary to disassemble many elements – including the engine.

Removing old paint

To be able to apply new paint, the old one has to be removed first – of course. How to do it? The best, although time-consuming solution is simply to sand it down thoroughly. In this step, it is necessary to make sure that after removing the varnish there is a smooth surface left. Then, all you have to do is finish it with sandpaper and then wipe it down with a cloth and thinner.

Priming and painting

After removing the old paint, you can finally move on to applying the new paint. First, the car body must be well primed. At this stage you can also level out any imperfections left after removing the old paint. It is important to do it skilfully. Before applying subsequent coats of paint and clear coat it is always necessary to wait about 30 minutes. When the last layer of clear coat is applied, the car only needs to be polished thoroughly.
